olive(s)oil
Built in the beginning of the nineteen century by the road an Oil Mill. The origin of the industrial process was close to the water, its foundation appears to be part of 3 olive mill system … The rehabilitation of the image has changed the function of the building. Through an industrial process we begin to enter in the domestic life.
The way of living has this routine reminiscent in the mechanical process…
The seed that generates the olive fruit, is now the place that preserves its memory and continuity of agricultural process and production. The fruit that gave place to the construction of the olive mill, is the same that keeps it alive. The Olive production runs through the veins of the trees, in the water course, seeking for the space to hide the roots of memory. Agriculture heritage is represented in the historical land layers of rural rehabilitation.
The structural elements that persists invoque the reality of working field, arid landscape, a constructive reality parallel to the conceptual notion:
The arches define the skeleton, a backbone with openings between fractured spaces. The buttress from the structural exterior transformed in decorative interior, the space is intersected by the elements that constitute it.
A symbiosis of living space.
Platforms as the reminiscent preservation, like it was a spacial fragmentation in levels; The pavement in the common areas in stone blocks, found in the place, are the basis of the texture baseline - notion of arid field on shadow and light into the ground floor. The difference between materials define the areas by function, as if changing the visual angle, could close the openness.
The house demonstrates how can the function of the structure became vital to its conceptual meaning.
